Why Scott Chaney Construction

A Different Kind of Jobsite

Family-owned, hands-on, and built around people who care about the outcome as much as we do. Here's what that actually looks like day to day.

Real Craftsmanship

No shortcuts, no substandard materials, no cutting corners to hit a number. If you take pride in doing a job right the first time, you'll fit in here.

Family-Owned, Not Corporate

Scott and Libby personally know everyone on the team. You'll have direct access to ownership, not a chain of managers between you and a decision.

Steady, Growing Work

A consistent pipeline of remodels, additions, and new builds across Murfreesboro, Tullahoma, and McMinnville, so you're not wondering where the next job is coming from.

Room to Grow

This isn't a dead-end job. As we take on more concurrent projects, there's a real path from crew to foreman to superintendent for the right person.

"We hire people we'd trust to represent our name on a jobsite when we're not standing there. That trust goes both ways."

Working Foreman

Full-Time McMinnville, TN & surrounding areas $65K–$80K/yr
Apply for This Role

Scott Chaney Construction is a residential general contractor based in McMinnville, TN, specializing in remodels, additions, and semi-custom spec/new builds. We're hiring a hands-on Working Foreman to run day-to-day operations on our job sites. This person will lead a small crew of laborers, work the tools alongside them, and coordinate subcontractors, keeping jobs moving on schedule and to spec without needing the owner on-site daily.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and supervise a crew of laborers on active jobs, assigning daily tasks and ensuring quality workmanship
  • Work on the tools alongside the crew as needed; this is a hands-on role, not purely supervisory
  • Schedule, coordinate, and communicate with subcontractors (framing, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, insulation, etc.) to keep trades sequenced correctly
  • Read and work from plans, scopes, and specs to keep the job on track
  • Monitor job progress against schedule and budget; flag issues or delays early
  • Maintain a safe, organized jobsite
  • Communicate daily/weekly progress to ownership
  • Order materials and coordinate deliveries as needed
  • Ensure work passes inspections and meets code

Qualifications

  • Solid experience in residential construction (remodels, additions, and/or new builds)
  • Proven ability to lead a crew and hold people accountable
  • Working knowledge of multiple trades, enough to coordinate subs and catch problems before they become expensive
  • Comfortable being hands-on with tools daily, not just managing from the truck
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Valid driver's license

Compensation & Growth

Starting around $65,000/year, with a path to $80,000/year as responsibility and job performance grow. There's also an opportunity to take on more responsibility over time, with a potential path toward a superintendent role as the company grows and takes on more concurrent jobs. A company truck and all tools are provided, so you don't need your own transportation or toolset to do the job.

Construction Laborer

Full-Time McMinnville, TN & surrounding areas $16–$25/hr
Apply for This Role

Scott Chaney Construction is a residential construction and general contracting company specializing in home remodels and new spec homes. We're a small, hands-on team that takes pride in quality craftsmanship, clean job sites, and treating every client's home like our own. The Construction Laborer is an essential member of our field crews, working as part of a two-person crew and supporting every phase of a project, from demolition and site prep through framing, finish work, and final cleanup.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with demolition, site prep, and material handling at the start of each project
  • Support framing, finish carpentry, and other trades as directed by the crew lead
  • Load, unload, and move materials, tools, and equipment on and off the jobsite
  • Keep the jobsite clean, organized, and safe throughout each phase of work
  • Perform final cleanup and haul-off once a project wraps up
  • Follow directions closely and communicate clearly with the crew lead and teammates
  • Help maintain tools and equipment in good working condition

Qualifications

  • Reliable transportation to and from the jobsite
  • Willingness to learn and take direction well
  • Comfortable with physical labor in a variety of weather conditions
  • Punctual, dependable, and able to work full days on a consistent schedule
  • Prior construction or labor experience is a plus, but not required
  • Valid driver's license

Compensation & Growth

$16–$25/hour based on experience. All tools and equipment are provided. This is a great entry point into the trades, with the opportunity to build real skills on the job and grow into a carpentry or lead role as you take on more responsibility.
